Three Houses—One World
Ett Hem, the much-loved hotel in Lärkstaden, a residential area on Östermalm in Stockholm, is celebrating its 10th anniversary with an exciting expansion. Owner Jeanette Mix and British designer Ilse Crawford have respectfully refurbished and curated adjacent town houses on Sköldungagatan 4 and 6, bringing new life to the neighboring buildings.
Since opening in 2012, Ett Hem (which is Swedish for “a home”) has charmed guests from around the world with its intimate atmosphere and domestic ease. Ett Hem’s vision remains unchanged today: to welcome a global and cultured tribe to a secluded, private world where everyone feels at home.
“We are so happy and proud of our 10 years at Ett Hem. The response has been fantastic from the start and, when we had the opportunity to extend and evolve our concept, we did not hesitate for a second. Our vision and identity have been appreciated by so many people, so it makes perfect sense that they stay the same,” says owner Jeanette Mix.
Sköldungagatan 4 will have 10 guest rooms, living rooms, private dining rooms and a resident’s lounge. The interiors will continue to feel relaxed and special, with a handpicked mix of vintage, bespoke and contemporary furniture and art. Guests will be able to enjoy long and celebratory meals in the kitchen lounge. During the warmer months, the generous balcony and the garden connecting the houses become lovely spaces with comfortable seating among the flowers and plants, extending the secret urban garden that is such a popular characteristic of Ett Hem.
In addition, Ett Hem is creating three residences for longer stays and a full-scale gym for hotel guests on Sködungagatan 6, which expects to welcome its first guests in the autumn of 2022.
“It is an honor to be part of Ett Hem’s ongoing story together with Jeanette and her team. Evolving something that works well and that people love requires careful handling; we are designing to enhance an experience, not just expand it. The beautiful neighboring houses have the same subtle qualities of warmth and comfort embedded into the design and operations simultaneously. Ett Hem is a world to feel utterly at home in when you are there, and long to return to when you are not,” says Ilse Crawford, founder and Creative Director of Studioilse.
